Maker's Mark: A tradition since 1805
The Maker's Mark distillery, founded in 1805 and largely preserved in its original state to this day, is the oldest distillery of its kind in the country. Handmade whiskey has been distilled here for six generations, with each cask being individually selected according to its flavor maturity - time is not a factor. Each bottle of Maker's Mark is sealed by hand with an individual red wax cap, which has become an unmistakable trademark.
The exceptional quality and particularly smooth taste of Maker's Mark is the result of a unique production method. Winter wheat is used instead of rye, combined with fresh spring water and a low distilling temperature to preserve the pure and balanced flavors.
The history and origins
The fascinating story of Maker's Mark begins in 1953, when Bill Samuels Sr. reinterpreted the traditional art of whisky making. With the goal of creating a smooth yet flavorful bourbon, he revolutionized the industry and laid the foundation for one of the most respected bourbon brands in the world. Today, Maker's Mark is still run by the Samuels family, who continue his vision and dedication.
The distillery is picturesquely located in Loretto, Kentucky, nestled in the green hills and fertile soil of the Bluegrass region. This idyllic setting offers ideal conditions for the production of high-quality bourbon whisky, supported by the mild climate and the region's abundant water sources.
