In 1951, the Black Velvet distillery in Toronto created one of today's best-known Canadian whiskies: Black Velvet Whisky is a blended whisky produced by the Canadian distillery based on rye, barley and corn. This gives the Black Velvet Whisky a unique taste that is not at all familiar from other whiskies.
The Black Velvet distillery uses only high-quality Canadian ingredients. This also applies to the Canadian mountain spring water that the distillery uses for its blended whisky. This contributes significantly to the exceptionally velvety taste of the whisky.
The Black Velvet whisky matures over a period of 3 years in bourbon casks. This not only gives it a straw-golden hue, but also a sweetish taste. Notes of vanilla, caramel, coconut and rye can be detected here. The taste of the Black Velvet whisky is not harsh, making it suitable for beginners.
In addition to the basic 40% version, the Black Velvet distillery also offers the Black Velvet Toasted Caramel. This is refined with roasted caramel and is therefore characterized by an even sweeter note. The alcohol content of the Black Velvet Toasted Caramel is 36%.
