Bodega Carlos Serres was founded in 1896 by the French oenologist Charles Serres in Haro, the heart of Rioja. He was one of the first to combine French winemaking techniques with indigenous grape varieties, laying the foundations for the international recognition of Rioja wines. Today, the bodega stands for a successful combination of tradition and modernity.
The vineyards of Bodega Carlos Serres extend southeast of Haro over around 60 hectares in Rioja Alta. The continental climate with Atlantic influence and the calcareous clay soils offer ideal conditions for growing Tempranillo, Graciano and Viura.
The wines are vinified according to traditional methods, using modern techniques for quality control. Maturation takes place in American and French oak barrels to give the wines complexity and elegance.
The labels of Carlos Serres wines reflect the long history of the bodega and combine classic elements with a contemporary design.
