As the name suggests, Bozal Mezcal is the Mexican agave spirit Mezcal. The Spanish term Bozal stands for “wild and untamed” and refers to the agave varieties used. This is because these are wild and, unlike the cultivated blue Weber agave, are not bred for a specific aroma.
The difference to its close relative, tequila, which is now almost exclusively produced industrially, is correspondingly great, while mezcal is a genuine artisan product. The agave leaves, for example, are cooked on hot stones for several days. Nevertheless, both are a popular national drink for Mexicans, although mezcal is said to be of inferior quality due to the addition of sugar during production.
It is precisely this bad reputation that the Bozal Mezcal brand wants to dispel and produces its products according to modern standards. In addition, although they are bottled in traditional ceramic bottles, they have an extremely modern appearance.
