Botucal Reserva Exclusiva, aus der venezolanischen Destillerias Unidas, wurde im Jahr 2008 als eine bemerkenswerte Entdeckung in der Welt des Rums gefeiert. Im Vergleich zu bekannten venezolanischen Marken wie Cacique oder Ocumare, die sich durch ihre Leichtigkeit auszeichnen und ein breites Publikum ansprechen möchten, präsentiert sich Botucal Reserva Exclusiva als ein vollmundiger und äußerst komplexer Rum, der besonders anspruchsvolle Connaisseure anspricht.
Dieser besondere Rum wird in kupfernen Potstills aus Melasse destilliert und reift etwa 12 Jahre lang in sorgfältig ausgewählten Ex-Bourbon Fässern. Bei dieser Abfüllung bleibt der Hersteller der alten venezolanischen Tradition treu, die von schweren und warmen Aromen geprägt ist, während sich der Rumstil in Venezuela in den letzten Jahren eher in Richtung eines leichteren und gefälligeren Profils entwickelt hat.
