Big Peat is a remarkable blend of single malt Scotch whiskies sourced exclusively from the Scottish island of Islay. This composition combines the sweet notes of Caol Ila, the balanced flavor of Bowmore, the medicinal earthy tones of Ardbeg and the elegant sophistication of Port Ellen. Together they embody the unmistakable character of Islay in a single bottle. As part of Douglas Laing's Remarkable Regional Malts range, Big Peat symbolizes the quintessence of the Islay whisky region.

Douglas Laing Big Peat The THROPAIGEACH Edition, which means 'tropical' in Gaelic, is the special bottling for 2024, released to celebrate Fèis Ìle, the annual Islay Festival. This limited edition is matured in selected ex-rum casks, which gives the traditional Islay malt a strong but also tropical note.

The Fèis Ìle, also known as the Islay Festival, attracts whisky lovers from all over the world. It is an annual celebration of the whisky produced on the island and the local culture. During the festival, distilleries open their doors, offer special tastings and events and release unique bottle editions.

The design of this bottling is unique: Big Peat appears in pirate style, matching the Caribbean rum casks in which the whisky was matured. The bottle label shows Big Peat surrounded by palm trees, parrots and swords, all in bright yellow tones that emphasize the tropical theme.
