Oban, was im Gälischen "kleine Bucht" bedeutet, hat sich trotz anfänglicher Herausforderungen zu einer der angesehensten und effizientesten Brennereien entwickelt. Mit nur zwei Brennkesseln produziert Oban jährlich bis zu 700.000 Liter Alkohol und gehört damit zu den kleinsten Destillerien der Welt, ein Beweis für ihre Exzellenz und Tradition in der Whiskyherstellung.
Der Oban Bay Reserve gehört zur Game of Thrones Single Malt Collection von DIAGEO. Nach der Sonder-Edition Johnnie Walker White Label, präsentiert Diageo eine Single Malt Collection. Die Single Malts aus verschiedenen Destillerien, tragen die Namen der sieben Königshäuser der bekannten Serie "Game of Thrones".Der Oban Bay wird dem Schauplatz der Serie gewidmet.
