Port Charlotte Islay Barley 2014 is an outstanding single malt whisky that captures the unadulterated essence of the Scottish island of Islay. Produced by the renowned Bruichladdich Distillery, this whisky reflects the deep connection to the island and its agricultural traditions. It has been distilled exclusively from barley from eight local farms - including Cruach, Craigens, Island, Dunlossit, Coull, Rockside, Sunderland and Mulindry Farms. All of these farms are located within a 15-mile radius of the distillery, underlining the importance of regionality and terroir. The barley was harvested in 2013 and distilled in 2014 to bring out the natural flavors of the region.
The seven-year maturation was carried out in a precisely matched combination of high-quality casks, which give the whisky its remarkable complexity and depth:
- 84% in first-fill bourbon casks - for sweet vanilla, caramel and honey notes.
- 8% in second-fill virgin oak casks - for a distinctive spiciness and strong oak nuances.
- 8% in second-fill Bordeaux wine barrels - for fine fruity notes and an elegant structure.
