The Port Charlotte 10 Years Old Heavily Peated is an authentic Islay single malt whisky that reflects the characteristic DNA of the famous whisky island in every facet. Sourced 100% from Islay, it combines traditional craftsmanship with a deep, multi-layered aroma. The Scottish barley used comes from the Inverness region and is intensively peated, giving the whisky its distinctive smoky character with 40 ppm (phenol content).
It is matured for ten years in a sophisticated combination of different types of cask. 65% is matured in first-fill American whisky casks, which lend it sweet vanilla and caramel notes. 10% is matured in second-fill American whiskey barrels, which adds gentle wood accents and a subtle spiciness. 25% is finished in second-fill wine casks from France, which gives the whisky additional fruity and spicy nuances.
