The Stauning BASTARD Triple Malt is a bold, experimental bottling from the renowned Stauning Distillery in Denmark. As the second edition of the Research Series, it is a product of creative freedom and perfect craftsmanship. This product range is a playground for unconventional concepts, where traditions are broken up and innovative whisky experiments are realized. Each of these limited edition bottlings comes with a unique design - the Bastard's artwork was created by Danish tattoo artist Thit Hansgaard, who works at the Sinner Inc Art Collective in Aarhus.
This whisky is the fascinating combination of two worlds: the rough, salty breeze of the Danish North Sea meets the dry heat of the Mexican desert. The base is a 100% rye whisky made from local ingredients, which is double distilled in classic pot stills. After maturing for three years in new, toasted virgin oak barrels made from American oak, it is given a special 6-month finish in former mezcal barrels from the Mexican Oro de Oaxaca. The result is a whisky with an incomparable strength of character that combines spicy, smoky and sweet notes in perfect harmony - a bastard that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
