Mortlach Distillery, founded in 1823, is one of the oldest and most renowned distilleries in Scotland's Speyside region. Known as "The Beast of Dufftown", Mortlach has made a name for itself with its uniquely complex and powerful single malts. The distillery uses an unusual 2.81-fold distillation process, which gives the whiskies their characteristic depth and complexity.
Mortlach 14 Years Old Alexander's Way, originally developed exclusively for the travel retail market, is matured in a blend of refill bourbon and sherry casks. This whisky is a tribute to Alexander Cowie, a former owner of the distillery, who established the special distillation process. In this method, the smallest still, the "Intermediate Still", is used to re-distil the run-off from the first two wash stills.
