Oxley Cold Distilled London Dry Gin is a pioneer in the world of gin, as it is produced using a unique cold distillation technique. While classic gin distillation processes require temperatures of around 78 °C to bring the botanicals to the boil and release their aromas, Oxley uses the vacuum distillation principle. This creates a vacuum, allowing distillation at temperatures as low as 25-40 °C - a technique that better preserves the delicate botanical aromas.
But Oxley goes one step further: the gin is distilled at -5 °C, which is extremely low even for vacuum distillation. This ensures a particularly fresh, clear and complex aroma structure that clearly stands out from conventional London Dry Gins. Scientists and distillers worked on this method for eight years before Bacardi launched the gin on the market in 2009.
