Zacapa Edición Negra is an exceptional premium rum from Guatemala, inspired by the natural forces of the country and the dark power of its volcanoes. Its production begins with particularly high-quality sugar cane, which grows under ideal climatic conditions in the heart of Central America. One of the special features of this rum is the use of "Virgin Sugar Cane Honey", the noble essence of the first pressing of the sugar cane, which ensures an incomparable depth and complexity.
It is matured using the elaborate solera process, in which distillates of different ages - between six and 23 years - are married in carefully selected oak barrels. These barrels, which previously contained bourbon, sherry and Pedro Ximénez wine, give the Zacapa Edición Negra its impressive aroma. The special feature of this rum is the final maturation in double-burnt American oak barrels, which were previously filled with American whiskey. This process ensures its intense, smoky character, which clearly stands out from the sweet, caramel-accented note of Zacapa 23.
Every step of the production process takes place under the supervision of Master Blender Lorena Vásquez, who is world-famous for her powerful and expressive rum creations.
