The traditional oak casks in which whisky was previously aged give each expression its own characteristics. To add a modern twist to the flavor of the whisky, Master Distiller Alan Winchester blends a selection of the old oak casks with American first-fill oak casks.

Zugegeben, ich bin kein Whiskey Trinker, habe aber dutzende Flaschen Rum in meiner Bar und wollte diese nun durch einen wertigen Whiskey ergänzen! - Ich kann diesem Autoreifen Geschmack mancher Whiskeys aber garnichts ab. Somit bin ich auf Empfehlung, bei diesem Tropfen hier gelandet. Und um den Preis gleich zugeschlagen.
Also ich bin begeistert. Sehr fruchtig, ein hauch von Äther UND kein Autoreifenrauch dingsbums. Wirklich ein sehr guter und ausgewogener Whiskey, vorfallen in diesem Preissegment. Hier wird sicher schnell Nachschub benötigt ;)

Dieser wird den 12yo am europäischen Markt ersetzen. Das sorgt für heftige Aufregung in einschlägigen Foren. Der Founder´s Reserve ist nämlich ein ganz anderer GLENLIVET: Zwar weist er sich für mich klar als ein GLENLIVET-Whisky aus, sein Geschmack zeigt ihn aber als viel jünger, weitaus weniger tief und komplex. Im Grunde genommen ist er kein schlechter Whisky, erinnert mich im Charakter aber viel mehr an die milden Lowlander oder irischen Single Malts denn an einen würzigen Speysider. Den 12 jährigen GLENLIVET kann er geschmacklich niemals ersetzen!!
